The Minority Outreach and Technical Assistance (MOTA) program, MHHD’s legacy program, was initially born in 2001 from the Cigarette Restitution Program to ensure participation in the state's Tobacco and Cancer Community Health Coalition. At the guidance of AOTA’s research, we are now offering single year, automatically renewed memberships (with the exception of students). MOTA was established to implement the Cigarette Restitution Fund Act’s provision requiring outreach and technical assistance to minority communities to ensure their participation in the tobacco and cancer community health coalitions. MOTA assists the Mayor by making recommendations for outstanding community leaders to serve as appointed leadership staff or members to boards and commissions. The purpose of the Minority Outreach and Technical Assistance (MOTA) program is to improve the health outcomes of racial and ethnic minority communities through community engagement, partnerships, outreach, and technical assistance.
